MaM Watersling Instruction

How do I use the Water Sling?
Using the Water Sling is no different from using any other baby sling. Both Water Slings allow for four different carrying positions. The Ring Sling has an open end and is made of an easy-to-handle fabric. These features allow for easy threading/tightening of the sling for a comfortable fit. The Wrap Sling is best worn in the wrap-cross position.
Please note the following:
The sling should be moistened before use, especially if you and your child are wearing swimwear. Always check that the child is securely seated in the sling and that no water gets on your child's face.
1. Preparation
Thread the open end of the Water Sling through the two rings. Then thread the end through the lower ring again. Tighten the Water Sling by pulling on the end. Loosen the sling by lifting the upper ring while supporting the child (with your other hand or on your lap). The child's weight will lock the sling, preventing the fabric end from slipping out of the rings. When lifting the child out of the sling, be sure to support their body.
2. Front-to-front carrying - the Ring Sling front carrier
Place the Water Sling over one shoulder like a sash (see also 'Hip-to-hip carrying'). Lift your baby up, belly to belly. A small baby can lie in the sling with their legs crossed, similar to a hammock. You can let the legs of a larger baby hang freely from the sling so that the child sits comfortably in the sling bag. Tighten the top and bottom edges of the sling one at a time by pulling on the open end. Check that the child's chin is not pressing on their chest or that their airway is not blocked in any other way. Make sure that there is always at least two fingers between the child's chin and chest.
2. Carrying on the hip - the Ring Sling hip carrier  (from 4 months)
Pull the Water Sling over your head, forming a sling over your shoulder. Position the nylon rings in the noticeable hollow below your collarbone. Support the child on your hips so that one leg is on the side of your back and the other leg is on your stomach. Pull the sling bag over the child's back. Pull the bottom edge of the sling along your stomach to the back of the baby's knees and the top edge up to support the child's back. Tighten the bottom and top edges separately by pulling on the open end while supporting your baby from below and lifting them slightly. Your baby should be in a squat position so that his legs are wide apart and his bottom rests comfortably in the carrier.
3. Kangaroo Pouch - the Ring Sling Kangaroo Carrier (from 3 months)
Place the Water Sling over one shoulder like a sash. Lift the lower edge of the sling against your chest. Place the child in a sitting position in the shaped pouch so that the legs are crossed and the baby's back is on your stomach. Now tighten the upper edge of the sling to properly support your baby's front. Please always remember to protect your baby from falling with your arm when you bend forward. Place the Water Sling over one shoulder like a sash, as described above. Lift the lower edge of the sling against your chest. The baby lies in a sitting position in the shaped pouch so that its legs are crossed and the baby's back is on your stomach. Carefully tighten the upper edge of the sling to properly support the baby's body. Please remember Always remember to protect the child with your arm when you bend forward.
4. Back Carrying - The Ring Sling (from 7 months)
First, place your baby in the hip position. Make sure the nylon rings are positioned exactly behind your shoulder on your back. After adjusting the sling correctly, slide your baby in the pouch under your arm and onto your back. Tighten the top and bottom edges separately by pulling on the open end.
General Information
Please remember that your baby should always be carried upright in wet and humid environments. If you want to breastfeed your baby, for example, by the pool or on the beach, you can carry your baby in the cradle position, with the baby's bottom down and their head at chest level. IBy placing the end of the sling over your shoulder, your baby is also protected from the sun and prying eyes.
If you are not yet familiar with the slings, it is essential to have a second person help you at the beginning. Your baby will notice your inner tension. Therefore, practice beforehand with a doll or a pillow.
Good luck and enjoy!
